Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd were delighted to be selected by BAM Construction to deliver the full architectural glazing package for the exceptional Rugeley John Taylor School project in Staffordshire. Situated on the site of the former Rugeley Power Station, this brand-new, net-zero carbon all-through school — catering for pupils from nursery through to post-16 — represents a significant investment in sustainable education and community regeneration.

With a contract value of £1.2 million, Dortech designed, manufactured, and installed over 2,500m² of high-performance aluminium façade systems, featuring Technal glazing systems (part of the Hydro Group). The specification included curtain walling, aluminium windows, entrance and exit doors, architectural pressings, and Saint-Gobain heat-soaked toughened glass, all meticulously engineered to enhance natural light, energy performance, and long-term durability.

Constructed using modern modular techniques, low-carbon concrete, PV panels, and a green roof, the Rugeley John Taylor School is a flagship example of modern, sustainable building design. The first phase of the project — offering 150 Year 7 places — is due to open in September 2025, with the nursery and primary phases set to follow soon after.

This milestone project also marks Dortech’s 90th completed project for BAM Construction over an outstanding 23-year partnership, during which the company has delivered more than £26.2 million worth of architectural glazing on BAM projects across the UK.

Reflecting on this achievement, Paul Trueman, Managing Director at Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd, commented:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be considered a Category A supplier to BAM Construction. The relationship we’ve built over the past 23 years is one we greatly value. BAM’s site teams consistently demonstrate ingenuity, professionalism, and a shared commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest possible quality. They’re an absolute pleasure to work with, and we look forward to continuing this successful partnership long into the future.”

The new Rugeley John Taylor School stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and trust — showcasing how long-term partnerships between committed organisations can deliver outstanding, sustainable outcomes for future generations.
