Dewsbury Police Station & Custody Suite

Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd is proud to have completed the glazing package for the new Dewsbury Police Station and Custody Suite, delivered for Willmott Dixon on behalf of West Yorkshire Police. This important scheme forms part of a modern district headquarters designed to improve operational efficiency, deliver secure custodial accommodation and create a long-term policing hub for the Kirklees area.

Dortech’s package combined Technal Tental MX52 curtain walling, Technal FY65 windows and SAS PURe doors across a challenging mix of existing stonework openings and new-build glazed extensions. The façade design needed to balance visual quality with robust technical performance, particularly at ground floor level where enhanced security standards were essential.

High-performance glazing units featuring Cool-Lite SKN183ii coatings were incorporated throughout the scheme to deliver a strong balance of daylight transmission, solar control and thermal efficiency. Non-vision areas were complemented with insulated ceramic spandrel panel construction, contributing to a more efficient building envelope and a durable long-term solution.

Just as importantly, this project continues a relationship with Willmott Dixon that began in 2002. Since then, Dortech has now designed, manufactured and installed over £20 million of architectural glazing on Willmott Dixon projects. That record reflects more than repeat business — it reflects consistency, trust, communication and a shared commitment to quality across complex public sector projects.

“Our relationship with Willmott Dixon has been built over many years through dependable delivery, openness, technical quality and a strong safety culture. Dewsbury Police Station is another excellent example of what can be achieved when two teams work closely together with a shared commitment to doing things properly.”
