Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd is proud to have completed the architectural glazing works for Rugeley John Taylor School — a brand-new, net-zero carbon all-through school (from nursery to post-16) built by BAM Construction on the site of the former Rugeley Power Station in Staffordshire.
The innovative school combines modular construction, sustainable materials, and renewable energy generation to set a new benchmark for low-carbon education facilities. The first phase — providing 150 Year 7 places — is set to open in September 2025, with primary and nursery phases to follow.
Dortech’s glazing package encompassed 2,500m² of precision-engineered aluminium façade systems, enhancing natural light, energy performance, and long-term durability. All systems were designed and manufactured in-house, using Technal products to deliver exceptional performance and aesthetic consistency.
This landmark project also represents Dortech’s 90th completed project for BAM Construction over a remarkable 23-year partnership, during which more than £26.2 million worth of architectural glazing has been successfully delivered across the UK.
Paul Trueman, Managing Director at Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd, commented:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be considered a Category A supplier to BAM Construction. The relationship we’ve built over the past 23 years is one we greatly value. BAM’s site teams consistently demonstrate ingenuity, professionalism, and a shared commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest possible quality. They’re an absolute pleasure to work with, and we look forward to continuing this successful partnership long into the future.”
The new Rugeley John Taylor School stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and long-term partnership — providing a sustainable, forward-thinking environment for generations of learners to come.
