Giving Back Where It Matters Most

At Dortech Group, community support is more than a corporate value — it is something
that comes from lived experience, empathy, and a genuine desire to do good.

This Christmas, that belief was brought to life through a staff-led initiative inspired
and driven by our Financial Director, Maryam Iqbal.

A Personal Story Behind the Initiative

The Calderdale Royal Hospital Women & Children’s Unit holds a very special place in
Maryam’s heart. Just one year ago, her young son spent Christmas on the ward, receiving
outstanding care and compassion from the hospital’s incredible doctors, nurses, and
support staff.

That experience stayed with her. Rather than letting it fade into memory, Maryam felt
compelled to turn gratitude into action — to give something back to the place that had
supported her family during one of their most challenging times.

The Dortech Team Comes Together

With Maryam’s encouragement, colleagues across the Dortech Group were invited to take
part by donating Christmas presents for children spending the festive season in hospital.
The response was nothing short of inspiring.

Thanks to the generosity of our team, we were able to deliver:

  • Over 50 toys and games
  • Festive treats and sweets
  • Moments of joy during what can be a difficult time for families

More Than a Donation

This initiative was never about publicity or numbers. It was about empathy, gratitude,
and recognising the extraordinary work carried out every day by NHS staff — especially
those caring for children and families during the holidays.

For Maryam, it was a way to say thank you. For the wider Dortech team, it was a chance to
stand together behind something meaningful. And for the children receiving the gifts,
we hope it brought a little brightness to their Christmas.

Looking Ahead

Acts like this remind us that businesses are built on people — and that when those people
lead with compassion, the impact can extend far beyond the workplace.

We are incredibly proud of Maryam for turning a personal experience into something
positive for others, and equally proud of the Dortech team for embracing the opportunity
to give back.

To the staff at Calderdale Royal Hospital: thank you for everything you do.
