Dortech has just completed glazing works at First Choice Homes in Oldham for Main Contractors Willmott Dixon. Dortechs contract which included the design, manufacture and installation of over 1,500m2 of curtain wall, also incorporated a large span, aluminium roof-light, automated entrance doors and bespoke, aluminium flashings.
The scheme had a number of challenges which Dortechs expert team overcame, including the installation of 250Kg (per unit) sheets of glass within meters of the main tram route into Oldham. Large panes of glass were included in the design to increase the extent of natural daylight and aesthetics of the building and required a 62mm fully capped curtain wall systems; supplied to Dortech by Technal to accommodate structural deflections and prevent glass racking from occurring (glass to metal contact).
