Our Health & Safety Framework

01 Accreditation & Compliance

CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) is more than a compliance badge – it sits within the wider Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) framework, helping to standardise health and safety assessment for UK contractors.

Our CHAS / SSIP accreditation reassures our clients that Dortech meets recognised health and safety benchmarks, reducing risk in procurement and ensuring consistent standards across projects.

In addition, all of our site staff hold CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards at levels appropriate to their roles. CSCS accreditation confirms that our site personnel have the training and qualifications needed for the work they perform, enhancing safety and professionalism on every project.

02 Proactive, Integrated Approach

Our health and safety strategy is integrated into every aspect of our operations, from live construction sites to our production facilities.

On construction sites we carefully manage multiple risk areas, including:

  • Work at height and fall prevention
  • Manual handling and lifting operations
  • Use of elevated work platforms and access equipment
  • Operation of heavy and powered machinery

In our factory, where we manufacture aluminium windows, entrance doors and curtain walling products, we ensure safe operation around precision machinery such as CNC equipment through structured controls and supervision.

03 Risk Management in Practice

We use a clear, documented framework to manage risk across all environments:

  • Detailed risk assessments: Regular assessments to identify, evaluate and reduce risks before work begins.
  • Method statements: Clear, practical instructions describing how tasks are to be completed safely.
  • Qualified staff: Ensuring that all employees are adequately trained and hold the necessary qualifications to perform their duties safely.

This structure ensures that health and safety is not left to chance – it is embedded in how we plan, deliver and review every project.

04 Training & Continuous Improvement

We believe that excellent safety performance comes from informed, engaged people. We invest in ongoing training to enhance safety awareness, practical skills and leadership capability across our teams.

  • Regular toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Formal training aligned to role requirements and industry standards
  • Lessons learned and feedback loops following projects and audits

This continuous improvement mindset is reflected in our strong safety record, with zero reportable major injuries or fatalities across our sites and factories in recent years.

05 Health, Wellbeing & Fatigue Management

We recognise that true safety goes beyond physical risk control. Our policies also focus on:

  • Occupational health: Monitoring and managing workplace exposures and conditions.
  • Mental health: Promoting open conversations, signposting support and tackling stigma.
  • Fatigue management: Planning work patterns that support alert, effective and safe performance.

By supporting both the physical and mental health of our people, we create a safer, more resilient workforce.

06 Partnering Safely With Our Clients

We invite our clients and partners to join us in upholding the highest standards of health and safety. Collaborative planning, clear communication and shared expectations are central to how we work.

Together, we can create safer construction environments, protect everyone who works on or visits our projects, and achieve outstanding results on every scheme.
