Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Southam College project, a groundbreaking initiative led by BAM Construction. This project is a testament to our strong and collaborative partnership with BAM Construction, as well as our commitment to delivering high-quality architectural glazing solutions. Southam College, a ‘pathfinder’ school designed to set new standards for sustainability in educational buildings, stands as a beacon of innovation and excellence in construction.

Southam College, located in Warwickshire, is part of the Stowe Valley Multi Academy Trust and serves over 1,650 students. The project, awarded to BAM Construction by the Department for Education (DfE), is valued at approximately £30 million. The college has been designated as a ‘pathfinder’ school, meaning it is a model for future educational buildings in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency.

The building is designed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions and features a variety of advanced sustainable technologies, including passive design, biophilic design, and climate resilience measures. These innovations not only reduce the building’s environmental impact but also create a healthier, more inspiring learning environment for students and staff.

Dortech’s Contribution

Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd was appointed by BAM Construction to design, manufacture, and install the architectural glazing for Southam College. This involved the installation of approximately 1,500m² of aluminium windows, entrance doors, and curtain walling, all manufactured using Technal’s high-performance glazing systems.

Our team worked closely with BAM’s in-house architectural practice, BAM Design Ltd, to ensure that the glazing solutions not only met but exceeded the project’s stringent requirements. The glazing systems we provided are not only energy-efficient and aesthetically pleasing but also contribute to the building’s overall sustainability goals. This project exemplifies our ability to deliver high-quality, tailored glazing solutions that align with the latest advancements in sustainable construction.

A Strong Partnership with BAM Construction

Our collaboration with BAM Construction on the Southam College project is the latest in a series of successful partnerships. Over the years, we have worked together on numerous projects, delivering exceptional results that have solidified our reputation as a trusted and reliable partner in the construction industry.

To date, Dortech has completed over £176 million of architectural glazing installations across the UK, with £24 million of this work carried out on BAM projects alone. This enduring partnership is built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to excellence. We are proud to contribute to BAM’s vision of creating sustainable, high-performance buildings that serve communities for generations to come.

The Importance of Sustainability

The Southam College project is particularly significant as it represents a major step forward in the construction of sustainable educational buildings. BAM Construction’s commitment to reducing the embodied carbon in the building materials and achieving net-zero carbon in operation is commendable.

Dortech is proud to have contributed to this pioneering project. Our glazing solutions not only meet the highest standards of energy efficiency but also enhance the building’s overall sustainability. The use of Technal systems allowed us to provide products that are not only durable and reliable but also contribute to the building’s energy performance and aesthetic appeal.

We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together with BAM Construction at Southam College. This project is more than just a building; it is a symbol of what can be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to sustainability. We look forward to many more years of successful partnerships and groundbreaking projects.
