Dortech Architectural Systems Ltd is proud to announce the successful completion of our latest project with BAM Construction at Byrchall High School in Wigan. As part of this significant redevelopment, Dortech was contracted to design, manufacture, and install over 1,200m² of architectural glazing, contributing to the transformation of this educational facility into a modern and inspiring environment for students.
Working closely with BAM’s design and site teams, Dortech ensured that all aspects of the glazing work were executed with precision and attention to detail. Our collaboration allowed us to align our efforts seamlessly with BAM’s overall project timeline, ensuring that the glazing installation was completed on time and within budget.
For this project, Dortech utilized Cool-Lite Xtreme 70/33 glass, a high-performance product manufactured by Saint-Gobain. This glass was specifically chosen for its exceptional solar control properties, offering a visible light transmission of 70% while allowing only 33% of solar heat to pass through. This balance makes it an ideal choice for educational environments where natural light is essential for a conducive learning atmosphere, but solar gain needs to be minimised to maintain comfortable internal temperatures and reduce cooling costs.
In addition to the high-performance glass, Dortech also employed architectural glazing systems from Technal, a renowned brand within the Hydro Group. Technal’s systems are known for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and versatility, making them a perfect fit for the demanding requirements of modern school buildings. Our relationship with Technal spans over 20 years, during which we have consistently relied on their systems to deliver outstanding results across numerous projects.
Dortech’s relationship with BAM Construction is built on years of successful collaboration. Since June 2009, Dortech has installed over £25.4 million worth of glazing on more than 80 BAM projects. This track record not only reflects our technical expertise but also our commitment to delivering excellence on every project, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in the construction industry.
